Roffey Karate Club has always engaged with charity fundraising, having completed a Sport Relief Mile and the Kick Challenge in previous years. Students have thrown themselves wholeheartedly into these challenges and raised fantastic amounts of money for charity. For Red Nose Day 2017, Roffey Karate Club set a target of delivering a monstrous total of 25,000 punches as a club over the six lessons in the week leading up to Red Nose Day itself.
Students of all ages and all grades took part, each fundraising for their individual contribution. There was an electric atmosphere in every lesson, with students pushing themselves whilst ensuring the punches were delivered with skill and technique in order to ensure they counted towards the grand total. There was also great camaraderie and enthusiasm, as students encouraged their peers to reach and exceed their targets. We all had great fun delivering our punches and, although it was tiring, it was well worth it! Every one performed brilliantly and there were some truly outstanding displays of determination and grit, with some individual totals exceeding the 1000s!
But did we do it? Did we reach our 25,000 punch goal?
YES! As a club we delivered a grand total of 27,797 punches! Every student taking part should be incredibly proud of jointly exceeding the target and doing so to raise money for the fantastic work undertaken by Comic Relief across the world.
