Brown belt Grading
18th February 2007

A grading for 3rd, 2nd and 1st Kyu (Brown belt) was held at Roffey on the 18th February

There were 5 Juniors attempting their 2nd Kyu ( this is the 2nd level in the brown belt grades). They were Emma Swaine, Rhianne Tanner, Michael Plater, Reis McCreadie, Mads Vallestad and Richard Tyler. They have waited over 8 months to ensure that they were properly prepared and the waiting paid off. The grading was to Roffey's updated syllabus and the standard was excellent. All the students seemed to enjoy themselves which is always a good sign.

There were 3 people attempting 1st Kyu (this is one grade below Dan grade). There was one Junior, Neirin Thompson and two seniors Carol Maclean and Pennie Roscoe.
Neirin has worked very hard since joining us a few months ago. He was at 2nd kyu with his old club for a long time but was succesful at the grading and acheived his 1st kyu.
The two seniors have been very focussed on their grade and have had the help of Colin jackson and Paul Wilkinson who acted as their partners. Both Carol and Pennie were succesful and again acheived an excellent standard at the grading. All three undertook the senior syllabus which now includes more blocks and kata than before.
All those who graded should be immensely proud of what the acheived and how far they have come in the karate.
